Okay, we all know I suck at keeping the blog updated, it's old news. On to a topic that's more fun. ;) I thought I'd have a little fun with the font color seeing as this is a super fun post about Bricen's super fun birthday. :0) Yes, I am a dork. Bricen had two parties. I was torn between one party vs. two but in the end we opted for two. I love how kids get excited to have several different Christmas gatherings and figured why not have more than one birthday party? I was exhausted by the end of those two parties but it was so worth it. We had us a ho down and Sheriff Bricen ran the show. He is not spoiled but loved a lot. Ha. I have lots of pictures to post. I can not believe this little guy has been here a year! We are so very blessed, even if I do sometimes wonder when I will feel well rested again. Haha
I think with the passing of a one year mark I've come to realize something. It's as if I've went from thinking tube feeds are a short term thing to realizing this is our life until further notice. I know that might sound like an obvious statement and perhaps I'm not putting it into words well. We seem to have taken a few steps back...again. Bricen got sick, runny nose, diarrhea, vomiting more and harsh cough. Even though we are tots (short for totally, a word used on my current favorite t.v. show, Parenthood, that I'm trying out. Again, I'm that cool.) on the mend, getting better, he is still hanging on to the cough and runny nose. Of course for his a cough means more vomiting because that gag reflex is so sensitive. So we didn't do a feeding trial last week because I was fighting to keep the kid hydrated and he wanted nothing to do with p.o. feeds. Same story this week. One step forward, two steps back it seems. He weighs 14lb 11oz. on the home scale. We have a one yr visit coming up soon and we will list specifics then. He seems to be getting taller.
Some fun facts about Bricen at one year old: He loves, and we do mean l.o.v.e.s. the Madagascar song and video for "Move it". He is quite the dancer. And sometimes I wonder if he hears the music in his head haha. He will be crawling, stop and start bobbing that head and there will be no music on. He loves to dance. He has started walking behind things while pushing them. He has added some words to his vocab such as "uh oh". It's a favorite when he throws something on the ground. Him and Akita have warmed up slightly to each other, Bricen to Akita more than Akita to Bricen. He still loves his Daddy, loves to imitate whatever he is doing and lights up when he walks in the room. His crawling is still off and we are working on it with special shorts from therapy. I've realized after the parties that he loves attention! Let's get to some pictures.
For Marty's family party we had chili with cornbread aka haystacks and all the toppings.
Marty and Bricen decided to show everyone how he dances and points his finger.
He wanted to try out Bricen's stuff. :0)
Aunt Crystal dancing with Bricen. Crystal was a huge help to me at the Party! Thanks again, Crystal!
I have to wonder what he's thinking.
The infamous banana pudding. I was super excited when I found this pan. I decided I'd just made banana pudding since Bricen would most likely gag on cake. It wasn't until I had this completely made that I realized its a backward one!!! The stinkin' pan is made to bake a cake and flip over. So, I had myself a minor meltdown, felt sorry for my son and myself and then got over it. It's a little bit funny now. ;0)
Mason was a hoot from start to finish...from the time he walked in the door pointing to his shirt saying "cowboy" to the time he left.
