4th of July

No holiday is the same once you lose a loved one. This is especially true with the fourth of July. I will never forget rounding the bypass in town, being vaguely aware of the fireworks in the sky, trying to process what I had just endured and what was happening. I had just started CPR on my own mom. Watched as paramedics took over in my living room floor, desperately tried to get a hold of my sister from the other room while they continued to work on Mom, all the while helping my step dad answer questions about her medical history and trying to keep my Aunt calm while she was telling my mom the story of Lazaurus (over the paramedics talking-they said "ma'am maybe it would be best if you waited in the other room.-little funny now-love Aunt Karen). I remember seeing them wheel her out on the stretcher, bagging her, hearing them call in what they had already given her, classic ACLS meds and I knew. I knew in the bedroom before we even left. She was gone. When I think back to the phone calls I made on that short car ride, it tells a story. Ali, Jenny and Marty. We were on our way to the hospital and fireworks were in the sky. I mean, really? lol I still love fireworks. Like a kid on Christmas morning, I love fireworks. I want fireworks when I go to heaven too. :0) Faith. Faith got me through that. Still gets me through the tough days. More than anything mom wanted her kids and family to be happy (love and work for God first-but be happy). So that's what we do. Keep on living as a way to honor her and her awesomeness. So I said all that stupid stuff to say that I can think of no better way to spend this holiday than with the people that meant the most to mom, her family.

We walked down to the park at the front of my edition to watch the fireworks after dinner. Bricen was looking rather handsome in his hat. He has been on a roll with these hats lately. He does not always keep them on but wants it close by. God forbid we not take it (the hat of the day) with us! Haha

Aww, a picture out of order. Seems about right. ;0)

After we came back for a little fire pit/roasting marshmallows and sparklers. Sparklers were short lived because Bricen was a little too "free" with them and made me quite nervous!!

It was overall a very good night.
